The 2nd Annual International Black DocuFest September 18-20, 2008, the High Museum of Art will be host to three days of free documentary film screenings on the lives, talents, and challenges of people of African descent globally. This year’s festival will feature documentaries from over 23 different countries on the following topics:

Live On DryerBuzz & Co 09.12.08

~human rights (genocide in Darfur & Rwanda, child labor in Ghana, rapes in Congo),
~arts and culture (dance, music, film, and visual arts from diaspora),
~social justice (unequal education in inner cities)
~health (indigenous healing in South Africa, centenarians in Barbados),
~history (race movies in the 1920s),
~politics (hip hop and political dissent in Sierra Leone)

Panel discussions will explore a range of topics on the use of arts for activism, the global fight against human rights abuses, the plight of our educational systems, and the need to address health disparities in black communities with alternative medicines. Guest panelists and moderators will include such notable personalities, e.g., Jelani Cobb, Stic-man (Dead Prez), Vince Bailey, documentary filmmakers, and many more.
