CNN announced Wednesday that it will premiere a new, “unconventional” weekend show hosted by comedian D.L. Hughley. “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News,” as the show is currently titled, will feature Hughley’s humorous take on the week’s events. read more | digg story
We can’t celebrate Obama, at least we can celebrate D.L. and the fact there is a brother back in prime time even if it is one night a week and on the weekend. I’m gonna watch and I complain and boycott a lot of stuff on TV. Congrats DL – don’t make a sistah blog about this no more. Stay up and stay on! LMAO.

Update 10.26.08: How did D.L. Hughley fair with the premiere of his new CNN show “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News?” Well according to real time public opinion aka twitter; African American viewers shot it down quickly; white females thought it was funny and entertaining; white males thought it was choppy, “wanted to like it”, and thought it might get canceled quick.
Hughley did very well during the interview portions. We don’t want to say he was articulate. Thought the show would be more of an interview talk show format which seems to be the best portion of the show. In the first episode, the format seemed to include too much. Audience sat by sort of dry. There were a couple of segments that slowed the opinions coming quickly through twitter which meant that maybe the show had grab the audience attention – these again were the interview portions.

CNN was probably thinking, hmmm let’s find the most ignorant, grammar-challenged black man and give him a show. This guy was turned down by ABC, BET, CBS and NBC. His cruel remarks from the past are just appalling. As a black person, I am extremely insulted that this is the best CNN can do. What this guy said in the past about the Rutgers Women’s basketball and Imus, congratulations CNN for sinking to a whole new “low”. The world will be watching this one too. This guy will not be representing the Black community, but he will be representing the U.S. Good luck with that CNN.
I found the comment Hughley made to the gay activist “You will have to march a lot longer” appalling. In history, gays were sent to concentration camps and put to death along with the Jews during the Holocaust. Considering Black history, you would think he would know what equal rights are about of all people and be a little more sensitive!!!!!
