Video QuickBuzz 04.30.09 – Attended the welcome party for Rev Al Sharpton and Warren Ballentine in Atlanta as they were welcomed to WAOK.  The event was held at Sweet Auburn Bistro after their 2nd day of broadcasting.  Awesome line-up starting with Lorraine White (6-10AM), Warren Ballentine (10-1), Rev Al (1-4), Derrick Boazman (4-7) but don’t quote me on the times.  Just stay tuned.  Tips on how and where to listen below.

QuickBuzz 04.26.09 — Warren Ballentine returns to Atlanta airwaves this week.  Many ways to listen.  Watch the behind the scenes here; listen at 1380AM or waok.com; listen on BlackBerry with Radio Companion. Add the app to your blackberry, then at WAOK to your favorites.  App will stream station to devices with internet. Update 04.09.09 Atlanta — Warren Ballentine expected back on air in Atlanta.  It appears Atlanta’s WAOK 1380AM is making room for both Ballentine and Sharpton.  The station has cleared a couple of slots including that of long time host and financial/credit guru Rob Wilson.

Update 03.05.09: Atlanta — All talk and no sponsors, Warren Ballentine and Al Sharpton’s daily talk shows recently silenced in the Atlanta market, home of Black Mecca. Ballentine’s truthfighters launched into protest only to find the talkers didn’t meet with Radio One’s bottom line. Radio One’s 102.5 in Atlanta not only switched back to music before Baisden, the station also switched positions on the dial with its gospel station. This places Ballentine in a precarious position considering his messages of African American economic development. His next movement should be to get Black businesses to flock to black radio with financial support.

    Dear Warren,

    Just heard your broadcast with respects to Loan Modifications vs Bankruptcy. A few years ago, I filed Chapter 7 Bkr & included my mortgage. Which allowed me to receive my discharge papers much sooner than Chp 13. Also, I was able to begin to rebuild my credit within 4 months of the discharge. Chapter 13 is not always the best way to file for mortgages. Why? Consumers cannot pay their originally monthly obligations on top of paying a trustee each month. Consumers can file Chp 7 and include their mortgage.

    Warren, I must say I’m fustrated. I applied for the loan modification, Wells Fargo is the lender. In short they offered me a forbearance. They state my debt to ratio is too high & I don’t quality. Once I get my expenses down maybe I can try again. The qualifications for the forbearance makes me quality. I haven’t missed a payment, I don’t want to go into forclosure, and they won’t help. They could lower my payments but they say they are not sure if I’ll make the lower payment. It would help if they gave it to me and I could apply more money on the expenses. The loan modification stuff is a joke. How many hoops can I jump through. I need help. thanks rachel d.

    Warren, please have your tech. check the OUTPUT VOLUME to All internet speakers. Your show is BLARRING, unclear and often times echeoing. It doesnt sound professional.

    2. Also, could you post 9/14/09 show(fixing credit) for some reason as soon as you spoke on how to correct credit the internet connection went blank UNTIL you nearly finished the WHOLE topic. I tried two different connections whic`h were both futile. LOVE YA

    I wanted to comment on the knowledge Dr. Gregory dropped about Hannibal. I graduated from Savannah State in Africana (African and African-American) studies. The people in my classes (who took them because they were required) were not interested in learning about our roots. We are the only people that I know who have no interest in our own history. We find it useless and pointeless. Furthermore, the biggest concern with students who questioned my decision about my major was, “What kind of job can you get with that degreee? What, you just want to be a teacher?” I was always appauled at how short our sight of vision is. They neglected to see the value in understanding our past in order to project into our future. Thank you, Dr. Gregory and Warren. Eye for an eye!

    Warren. Your ASSISTANT doesn’t know about SOUND precusions. She turned your mic up – when she just needs to turn up ” her” headset, if she can’t hear you.

    YOUR mic is set for the audience, NOT her in the same area. SHE has destorted your signal, again. TO CORRECT: Your TEAM all need to view (where the volume – should be) BY corrolating the volume with a computer – ELSEWHERE. — Call someone watching on Utube and CHECK all mics and “Recorded Information” for – listeners (view the show on Utube) against – their computer (s).

    Everytime you play something (news, special infor, talk loudly…) it’s DISTORTED (Sounds backwards, jiborish) . Also, we can’t hear the news, either. You CORRECTED your mic earlier. No one has probaby told your assistant that HER way is WRONG. Lower in the studio – from which it comes (like a funnel).

    Your MIC(S)’ NEED to OUTPUT – LOWER. Because YOU are the source.
    Like GOD – you don’t need to YELL. w/ love. Thanks.

    I feel the republicans are fighting on three fronts one potray blacks in a negative light to consolidate white votes. Two, separate blacks from hispanics togther these groups could when more seats in both houses. Thirdly, Change the constitution or take legal action to control the hispanic population. In the mean time we are to concern about our own issues to take advantage and consolidate with the hispanic community. Blacks cannot together head in one positive direction.

    We owe ourselves to speak truth to power when it comes to our Black Men. We have both been brainwashed that the other one has not suffered as much as the other, and we know that is not true. We have both suffered alot. Everyone gets excited when they see black love. We love Ossie and Ruby Dee, Bill and Camille, Denzel and Pauletta, Magic and Cookie, Will and Jada, the President and the First Lady. Neither of these love stories are without ‘issues and pressures’ but it shows strength, faith and favor.

    concerning the egypt situation a c-span caller called in to say that in 2005 egypt was made to sell oil to isreal below market value, then around 2010 when egypt was developing an oil shortage, egypt had to buy their oil back at higher than market value.
