Success Behind the Scars is a motivational book about one man’s determination to achieve against the odds. Deemed a slow learner and placed in learning disability classes as a child, author Aldric Marshall was labeled and stigmatized. In his debut book, Marshall shares his life story and how he excelled in the face of adversity to live a rewarding and successful life.
When Marshall was seven years old, his father moved, leaving his mother to raise him and his two older siblings. As a young boy he was placed in a slow learning disability class and later graduated high school with a 2.0 GPA. After a short-lived stint in the Air Force, Marshall eventually became one of South Florida’s top barbers. He later earned his Realtor’s license, completed mortgage broker school, joined the Toastmasters speaking organization, graduated Dale Carnegie training, and became a self-taught Foreign Exchange trader. At the age of 34 he enrolled in Palm Beach Atlantic University and graduated with a 3.8 GPA.
Marshall sums up his philosophy in two words: persistence and hope. Filled with humor, candid recollections, tips and motivational quotes, the book expands on this philosophy and teaches readers how to live a more fulfilled life. Marshall guides the reader to find personal solutions in the following areas and more:
- How to achieve success even if you don’t receive the support you need
- What it takes to get the job you want even in the midst of economic crises
- The real meaning of persistence and resilience … and how to apply these concepts anywhere
- How to succeed in any business venture
- What it takes to make healthy life choices consistently
