DL Hughley Broke the News – Canceled!

Every source but CNN is buzzing about the cancellation of DL Hughley Breaks the News. Bottom line, Hughley didn’t bring the funny or the money i.e. 18-34 year old who are detached from their history and love vodka.
Beyond our predictions, we first saw the cancellation buzz on twitter from @MiamiHerald. Comments citing one reason or another are abound, but truth be told meaning “the way we see it,” is that Hughley has a history. Not the immediate history of lackluster jokes or the fact that he at one time made similar comments as one Don Imus as some might say. But a history of growing up Black in America. We mean “real black,” not the facade CNN is currently portraying.
We saw the tension of “American experience” in the first few episodes. Hughley’s producers, with his say so or not, slipped straight bullshit into the programming, therefore the show tanked with viewers. No TV show is truly about its content. It’s all about the money. Hughley viewers, according to real time opinion i.e. twitter, appeared a little older than today’s desired demographic. The viewership Hughley did attract asked for too much in the way of accountability.
Judging by the daily shows on today’s CNN, they seem to be leaving the “news” business all together. @AndersonCooper has gone from journalist to pinup boy. Viewer watch @RickSanchezCnn to see their own comments about the “news” sent from twitter and facebook. Meanwhile @DonLemonCNN seems to be the only one trying to “gather the news.” Yet Lemon’s show has yet to show true ownership.
Some say CNN tried to compete with popular comedic shows such as The Daily show. FAIL! But despite what many say about Hughley breaking the news, it was a brief platform for interviews we won’t ordinarily get to see. For that it was worth watching.
There’s a few folks salivating the slot or any time they can cheese on CNN. If CNN knows what’s best (doubt), they will fill the time with real news.
