More Madea Coming At You Says Tyler Perry

Madea Recession Proofs Lionsgate: More Madea Coming To Theaterts

Madea throws her weight around in the box office arena, holding down the top spot for 2 weekends with Madea Goes To Jail.  If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.  Whether it’s broke is another debate, but millions can turn into billions faster than wrong to right.  With that, in his latest email, Tyler Perry announced his next movie will feature more Madea (check your Lionsgate stock).  Madea played by Tyler Perry will come back to the big screen in I Can Do Bad All by Myself also featured as a Tyler Perry play.

Trying to remember the play… (from imdb.com)

Madea’s family comes to see her while she’s sick, however it’s the rest of the family that needs help. Her granddaughter Maylee has dumped her daughter, Keisha off on her sister, Vianne, who has been living with Madea for the past 6 months since her divorce. Chaos erupts when Maylee shows up engaged to Vianne’s ex, Anthony, who is out to make Vy as miserable as possible. Vy meanwhile starts to get interested in Bobby, who works for Madea and who’s served time, who during the past 6 months has insisted that he’s no good. Elsewhere, Madea and her daughter, Cora try to convince Maylee that Keisha needs a mother to stick around with her, but that doesn’t tie in with Anthony’s plans. Madea’s stuck with all her family’s problems and a few of her own, such as Brown coming over repeatedly and getting the whole household in an uproar, and the police chasing her. Through it all, they prove that no amount of money, nor material items nor empty relationship can offer near what God, family, and love can. Written by novastar_6

The storylines from the plays have gotten crossed with the movies over the years.  So we’ll just have to wait and see what the storyline will bring in the movie I Can Do Bad All by Myself .

Update: Academy Award(R) nominee Taraji P. Henson (THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON) will star in TYLER PERRY’S I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF, which is based on Perry’s play of the same name. Perry’s signature character, the indomitable Madea, will be featured in the film. Principal photography is scheduled to begin on March 16 at the new Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. TYLER PERRY’S I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF is expected to be released nationwide on September 11, 2009. (from studio release date 03.04.09)

We hope Perry will not rush these projects and the blend of Madea into the story line will be better meshed than Madea Goes To Jail the movie. Though “Madea Goes To Jail” remains a box office hit, increasingly fans are noticing whether or not a project is given the proper attention. As to a September 11th release date, Lionsgate might want to rethink the capitalism. [moving away from the lightening]

It continues to disgust me that Tyler Perry’s movies are box office hits. How can we continually celebrate this sexist minstrel show. These movies are demeaning to black women on so many levels. The plot is always the same, elite woman gets shamed, finds God, learns humility and then marries a poor man and lives happily ever after., The key lesson here is that any self assured woman, who is successful and not subservient to a man leads a troubled life. Nowhere in his movies does he challenge black men to hold up their end of the agreement.
