TLC Makes Room for New “Multiples” Family – Not OctoMom

March 9, 2009

Inquiring minds have yet to figure out what Octomom Nadya Suleman was thinking when she decided to add eight more to her clan of six children.  Did she have a sitcom in mind? If so, she’s apparently gone the wrong way to get one.  While drama makes for good TV, it does not come across well when America has to foot the bill, either through taxes or charity.  At post time, news reports are saying her latest publicist has quit the scene citing the “woman is nuts…”

If Octomom wanted to get rich through her clan, she’d probably be rich by now had she invested whatever monies spent already.  Oh wait the economy is down.  But here is a question. Why is America fixated with multiples but not Octomom’s?

TLC, part of Discovery Channel, is launching yet another TV show featuring multiples or a large family.  Sorry Octomom, the line-up maybe full at this time.  TLC will add new series TABLE FOR 12, premiering Monday, March 23 at 10PM ET/PT.  Already the network features Jon & Kate Plus 8 along with the show 18 Kids and Counting. That’s thirty six (36) kids in all.

“There is an ongoing fascination with large families,” states Nancy Daniels, SVP of Production and Development, TLC recently in a press release. “The Hayes family is truly inspirational and the strong bond they share as they tackle everyday obstacles as a large family is captivating to watch.”

If we’re facsinated with large families, where does this leave Octomom?  Where does this leave the babies?
