Celebrities including Lisa Raye, Chrisette Michele, Chef G. Garvin and Terance Mathis joined first annual “Fairways & Highways” Celebrity Golf and (Motorcycle) Bike Weekend in support of the fight against Domestic Violence
Shock Theory Interactive Inc., a marketing communications agency, merged the greens with the pavement as they aligned the most unlikely demographics sharing in a common interest – philanthropy with a twist of luxury. Luring in the best in golf and bike riding for the first event of its kind, Shock Theory presented the first annual “Fairways and Highways” Celebrity Golf and Bike Weekend in Atlanta, GA June 25th – June 27th.
The weekend fused luxury using viral platforms to raise awareness and commitment for this years cause – domestic violence. “With recent occurrences in the news and the alarmingly high number of domestic acts across the country, we decided to unite an unlikely audience and thrust the epidemic into their hearts and minds while packaging it in a medium that will leave a lasting impression,” stated Fairways and Highways visionary -Sonja Williams.
The series of events launched with the Terance Mathis Celebrity Golf Outing- former star wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, June 25, 2009 at the Celebrity International Golf Club in Tucker, Georgia owned by NBA Star Julius Erving. A private, VIP only reception took place the day before for the golf outing. The second event in the series was the signature “Summer Tour De Luxe” – A dramatic mix of arts and entertainment, embedded into a sea of people, live music and alluring atmosphere on June 26th hosted by acclaimed actress LisaRaye McCoy Misick. The series finale concluded with the White Glove Charity Bike Ride leaded by TV One’s celebrity Chef G. Garvin.
