Alicia Keys’ The Element of Freedom Tops the Charts | Concert Dates

December 23, 2009

Twelve-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys’ latest opus The Element of Freedom (MBK/J Records) debuts at #1 on Billboard‘s R&B Albums and Digital Albums charts and #2 on Billboard‘s Top 200 Albums chart, according to Nielsen/SoundScan.

With radio stations playing five songs simultaneously from The Element of Freedom (“Doesn’t Mean Anything,” “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart,” “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down,” “Un-thinkable,” with background vocals provided by Drake, and “Put It In A Love Song” featuring Beyonce) and critics such as Entertainment Weekly citing “Keys latest hits all the right notes” there’s no wonder why fans flocked to purchase Keys’ fifth release.

Named one of Billboard‘s Artists of the Decade, Keys is never one to rest on her laurels as we move into the new year. Keys will launch 2010 in high gear with a performance on Saturday Night Live on January 9 followed by an AOL Music Sessions premiere on January 14. On March 3, Keys embarks on the U.S. portion of “The Freedom Tour” at Chicago’s Allstate Arena. The European leg of the tour will commence late April 2010.

Blogger Declares 2009 the Official Year of FAIL

December 23, 2009

FAIL! By the time you read this post because you FAIL to to keep up in REAL TIME,  2009 will be DONE! Stick a fork in it.  It seems everything FAILed in 2009. Was it the year NOT to remember.  Unless you remember it by what FAILed.

Barack Obama now President FAILed to deliver as evidenced by this SNL clip. The year 2009 was a clunker year for the President.  The President FAILed to see the many correlations to past one term presidents. Most say he dropped the ball and the voters at the White House door. At post time, the President reportedly has radio interview scheduled with Steve Harvey to discuss his relating with Black America – we predict FAIL!  You might find archive audio here unless the station FAIL to post it.

Television FAIL! Fake marriages with multiple children i.e. Jon & Kate FAIL! Cable news networks FAIL!  World class golfers with fake marriages FAIL!  Fifty year old’s with 50 concerts FAIL! (FAIL again – is it too soon to do an MJ joke).   Jay Leno FAIL to leave television.  His five year departure moved him to an earlier slot.  Oprah FAIL to retire.  You now have to say goodbye over and over for the next two years.

Did nearly every idea FAIL in 2009? We planned to give out the FAIL Awards but FAIL to find inspiration in the domain we purchased www.theFAILawards.com – FAIL. For the most part, it looks like we took the year off.  We FAILed to find stories interesting with enough depth to warrant  further discussion.   FAIL was coming too fast.

We intended to declare 2009 as the year of HATE Happy!  FAIL! The post is still sitting in draft form.  Since everyone had an opinion in REAL TIME, it became the year to HATE (highly anticipate the error) of everything and everyone trying to do Happy.  Life moments and failures became hashtags with FAIL leading the way.

We won’t FAIL to bore you any longer as we have probably passed that point.  Or did we FAIL to make a point.  For all we FAILed to mentioned… FAIL!  There is good news, hopefully it is all up hill from here. FAIL! That would denote we are at the bottom. FAIL!

Despite the FAILs of 2009, as one of the first, it was exciting to blog this past decade.  Without FAIL, let us wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and many a joyous Holidays.

Go in peace, don’t HATE Happy!

Walmart banking on the Food Stamp Hour… Midnight in the food-stamp economy | Reuters

December 22, 2009

SAN FRANCISCO/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – At 11 p.m. on the last day of the month, shoppers flock to the nearest Walmart. They load their carts with food and household items and wait for the midnight hour. That’s when food stamp credits are loaded on their electronic benefits transfer cards.

U.S.

“Once the clock strikes midnight and EBT cards are charged, you can see our results start to tick up,” says Tom Schoewe, Wal-Mart Stores Inc’s chief financial officer.

As food stamps become an increasingly common currency in a struggling U.S. economy, they are dictating changes in how even the biggest retailers do business.
