Michael Blosil, the 18-year-old son of entertainer Marie Osmond, has died, authorities confirmed Saturday.
Blosil died Friday night, and his death was being investigated by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, said coroner's Lt. Brian Elias.
Officials could not comment on a report posted on ETOnline.com saying Blosil had jumped from his downtown Los Angeles apartment at 9 p.m. Friday and had left a suicide note.

A man reportedly infatuated with a 30-year-old special education teacher shot and killed the woman outside a Tacoma elementary school teacher this morning, police said. The gunman later was shot dead by a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy near Fredrickson.
The initial shooting occurred about 7:30 a.m. at Birney Elementary School, where the victim helped teach reading to kids with learning disabilities.

While Darnell Martin (director of Cadillac Records) is the first African-American woman to have a major studio release, with her 1994 Columbia Pictures film, I Like It Like That, there were several who paved the way for her. The first black woman noted to have directed/produced a film is Maria P. Williams, whose film Flames of Wrath was released almost 87 years ago in 1923. Julie Dash is the first black female director to have a nationally released film with Daughters of the Dust in 1991. Leslie Harris was the third one, when Miramax Films released Just Another Girl On The I.R.T. in New York, Los Angeles and other cities.

Older women who are divorced, separated or widowed or who have never married have twice the uninsured rate of their married peers, according to a new policy brief from the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.The study, “Health and Health Care Access Among California Women Ages 50–64,” examines a range of health issues and trends among California’s approximately 3 million older women, an age group that often faces new and accelerated chronic health conditions, according to lead author Roberta Wyn, associate director of the center.
“It’s a time of critical change for older women,” Wyn said. “Not only are they at risk of new and complex health conditions, but as they near the age of retirement, their insurance status may change too.”
