The 7th Annual Walter Rodney Symposium | March 19 2010 | Spelman College | myATLevents
You are invited to the 7th Annual Walter Rodney Symposium. This year’s theme is 30 Years: Reflections on the Life and Legacy of Walter Rodney. The symposium Friday, March 19, 2010, will bring together scholars, researchers, activists, students and the community to discuss Haiti using Dr. Rodney’s seminal work of “How Europe Underdeveloped Africa”.
Come and share in a conversation between author Dr. Paula Giddings and Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall, on Ida B Wells and the relationship to Rodney’s ideas; and experience Walter Rodney through rememberance with Andaiye, a Caribbean feminist and human rights activist. Also participate in discussions on Haiti. Enjoy dance, spoken word, poetry performances and more …
Contributions from the sales of T-shirts, wrist bands and bottle water will be made to a Haiti Re-Development Fund through the Walter Rodney Foundation. Learn more about the Symposium at: www.walterrodneyfoundation.org.
