Spend an evening exploring the social commentary of Mr. Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions. Mr. Howard Dodson, Chief of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and Dr. Portia K. Maultsby, the renowned ethnomusicologist from Indiana University, will discuss and pay tribute to Curtis Mayfield, his music and his integral relationship to the Civil Rights Movement. Pre-registration is requested. The first 100 participants will receive copies of Dr. Maultsby’s essay on the legacy of Mr. Mayfield. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Refreshments and self-guided museum tours from 5:30 to 6:30. Panel discussion from 6:45 to 8:30.
