Prodigy Mom Gives: Michelle Brown-Stafford, mother of 14 Year-Old #WhizKid and College Student Stephen Stafford Holds Free Workshop Feb 19th | myATLevents
February 15, 2011
ATLANTA, GA – Michelle Brown-Stafford, mother of 14 Year-Old College Student Stephen Stafford, continues her national campaign to teach parents a new approach to parental involvement; one in which parents provide in-home resources to children to foster academic achievement. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at the state of the art YMCA of Carver Villages in Atlanta from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the next FREE “Parents as Partners” workshop will focus on how children like to receive and/or process their school work, what educational experts refer to as “learning style”.
Mrs. Brown-Stafford will provide actual demonstrations on three different types of learning styles and help parents to identify how their kids like to learn. “This is a powerful and very personal way for kids to connect to school assignments thereby fostering an easier learning experience and mastery of concepts. It has worked for my kids and others I’ve coached for years. The schools are limited in terms of tailoring learning styles to fit every child but the parent can assist the teacher’s efforts by offering those resources after school and I’ll teach them how to do just that,” says Mrs. Brown-Stafford. Through her persistent parental involvement efforts, Mrs. Brown-Stafford saved her son from falling through the educational cracks when his “brilliance” failed to be reflected in the classroom. Because of her diligence, her son Stephen began college classes as early as 11 years old and became a full-time student by age 13! Dismayed by the constant barrage of negative statistics related to children in urban areas, the parental involvement juggernaut was inspired to help other children to reconnect to their own brilliance through their parents by launching her own campaign to teach what families of the academic elite have been practicing for decades. Michelle Brown-Stafford concludes , “I just couldn’t turn a cheek to so many kids who remind me a lot of my son, knowing that I may be able to offer something that could affect a real change in their educational experience.” Date: February 19, 2011Location: The Villages at Carver Family YMCA

What’s in it for Me? WIIFM – Five (5) Questions To Evaluate Networking | Learn.DryerBuzz.com
February 14, 2011
Networking Tip: Monday ME — Time to ask yourself What’s In It for Me (WIIFM) - Well did you give to receive? In this tip, we combine two cliches to evaluate networking and how to get the most from it.
In social media, Monday is a slow day. Typically because the general audience for social media is busy getting back to work. The same goes for content curators off over the weekend. Social Media starts to peak later after lunch to later in the evening on Mondays continuing until Thursday when the weekend begins again.

Monday morning, look at your contacts. Now look at your contracts. If you’re not busy Monday morning, then let’s move to the next cliche — Did you give to receive? When networking during the previous week:
- Did you lead with an offer?
- Did you place an ad for your business?
- Did you distribute a press release or conduct an interview?
- Did you provide product or sponsor an event to attract local customers?
- Did you offer your service as an opportunity for bloggers to monetize their blogs?
When networking, answers to the questions above should come easy. The answer should be yes with detailed explanation following the guidelines of your BrandPlan. If you answered no to any of the questions and your contacts did not turn into contracts then get busy planning. Ask yourself again WIIFM? This time around, be ready to give in order to receive. Give contacts a contract they can’t refuse.

Parenting: Preparing Offsprings for the Love You Will Need In Return | Hindsight | DryerBuzz.com
February 13, 2011
Sorry if I’m sharing this message after the fact. Unfortunately, it just hit me 20 plus years in. Am I able to share it because as a parent, I may have gotten more things right than wrong.
It seems to me that we spend the rest of our lives as adults trying to either escape or duplicate our childhood. That familiar thing about raising our own children, is our childhood coming back haunt or guide us. What we come to know about parenting comes from the trial and error experiences of our own parents which means success is a gamble. The payout is hopefully receiving love in return. Parents get out what they put in. We have to stay in it to win it and play for the Jackpot!
What got me thinking this way? Went with my cousin Wanda, formerly known as the “merry-go-round-assassin” from our childhood, to see Broke-ology starring Afemo Omilami, Eric Little, Enoch King and Jasmine Guy.
In the play — Dad (Afemo Omilami) remains in his home even as his health and his neighborhood are deteriorating. When the question is raised of how to take care of their ailing father, the two brothers (Eric Little, Enoch King) find themselves strangely at odds. This comic drama encourages us to stay linked to our roots no matter where life takes us. (Photo via Jasmine Guy – Facebook)
The play had a number of interesting dynamics, twists and turns. What stuck out to me was the pay-it-forward facet which happens between parents and off-springs. There was also a great story between the siblings. This dynamic reign parallel to my own children with respect to the responsibility and roles children assume in returning a parent’s love. During the talk-back which took place after the play. It hit me – parenting is preparing off-springs for the love we will need in return.
What a revelation. Before having children, thought I had some idea about parenting. Knew what I wanted to do as a parent and what was important to me. But guess what? Offsprings soon and very soon develop their own opinions about who we should be as parents. It’s a cycle requiring expectations of both parent and child(ren) be met. Not to frighten anyone, but when a parent says to an offspring, “because I say so,” be mindful, one day they will have the say. And that’s putting it mildly.
Children are who they are born to be. Children are a combination of not one but two childhoods; that of both parents. Parents can treat them the same (so they think), give them the same (so they think) and still children come out different. If like me, you have more than one, here’s hoping the first born understands there are things parents don’t know when they came along. It’s not that parents treat younger siblings different. Parents just learn not to make the same mistakes. With an only child, parents only get one shot. My parents had one child. I decided I wanted better odds. So I had four and hit the jackpot (knock on wood).
Prepare your offsprings for a life time of love in return.

Meet the Izes – Organize, Prioritize, Customize, Monetize and Incentivize | Five (5) Simple Tips to Keep Customers Focused | Learn.DryerBuzz.com
February 13, 2011
Got a minute? You’ve got time for a QuickBuzz
Networking and Web Tips: When visitors land on your page and see “powered by” or if you’re behind the slash or in front of dot them dot com (you.them.com or them.com/you),” guess where customers are going? Exactly — off to see the wizard. Visitors start pulling back the curtain; browsing around and forget all about closing the sale. Free can be costly. Upgrade to the next level at least in order to wrap your brand around 3rd party products to keep customers focused and close more sale. If your most popular landing page is behind the slash or front of the dot, use a customized link to point/forward with masking to keep customer focused and your brand out front.
Meet the ‘Izes – Organize, Prioritize, Customize, Monetize and Incentivize
- Organize networking to meet customers where they are. Most networks are filled with peers not customers. Know your networks. Follow your customer.
- Prioritize time to engage customers to close more sales. Be “LIVE” at your website.
- Customize 3rd party products to match brand and keep customers focused. Upgrade to come front and center.
- Incentivize products then offer as monetized opportunities to gain valued exposure with blog sites, twitterers, peers, friends and customers. Lead with opportunity to increase sales.

Hair She Goes! Does NeNe Need to be Medicated? Is there a Doctor for the Housewives? | RHOA Reunion VideoBuzz
February 12, 2011
Hair She Goes! – NeNe NeNe NeNe Really? Really! After watching the video clips, I will need a prescription before the reunion airs. Already need to calm my nerves.
We all know Desperate Reactionary Animated Misguided Acquisitive People (D.R.A.M.A) make for good television but dang, does NeNe Leakes needs to be medicated? Somewhere there is a clinical trial either for her or those of us who can’t stop watching her.
Anybody who has walked by a psychology book (myself having paid for a couple with a daughter majoring in psychology) knows something is wrong with the thing that rises up and out of NeNe. Makes you want to fix it. Surely there is such a wondrous talent underneath it all for NeNe. Fix it. I’m sure the big drama check she received for sticking to the “crazy” script was cool, but this is suppose to be “real” which begs the question again, does NeNe need to be medicated?

If this was a bona fide soap opera and that was her character and Bravo called cut at the end of the day then fine. However, judging by the clip which taped all too recently, months after the show taped, must again ask, does NeNe need to be medicated?
We’re seasons into this. By now I really expected to see NeNe hosting NYE with Anderson Cooper, red carpets with Ryan Seacrest and sliding in where Wendy Williams slid out. Not gonna happen? Where does NeNe go from here? Who’s going to wrap their brand around that? OMG I got to watch it again. And the related videos. Send help.
