The top question Monday July 27th just so happened to be “what is planking?” If you follow pictures via social networking, you’ve probably seen a plank or two or more. One plank photo posted on facebook drew about 40 comments or more in less than a few minute. If you’ve only seen photos or video, then be thankful you’ve not walked up on a planker or had planking to take place around you. Well there is always tomorrow.

Sat through a couple of conferences for women recently and watched as women business owners and entrepreneurs tried to grasp the concept of blogging, social media and networking. I listened as they debated the tasks of networking, comparing it to a root canal and an arrogant car salesman. The conferences were bursting at the seams and my calendar for the months of June, July and August are filled.
When given the opportunity to share information about their business, those who jumped at the chance were few and far between. Yet I wondered where and how are women creating a buzz for their businesses? Don’t hear their ads on the radio. Don’t see their commercials on tv. They are not in the newspaper classifieds. No email blasts or even a follow up email after the conference(s). Nor have I seen them in the sidebar on Facebook.
When I asked if any were currently running an ad or social media campaign, the answer was no, not yet. If the general perception that promoting their business is arrogant, then where are women advertising and promoting their business?
Coca-cola is the number one soft drink in the world. But you can find an ad for Coke somewhere everyday. A true testament that customers need reminders to continue to choose your product. So where are women advertising their business? How do you create buzz?
