The Cut with that Brother! ianfrankwilliams photography – about me

August 28, 2011

Ian Frank Williams is a former United States Marine as well as a film/video school graduate. While he is a video editor by profession, he has shifted focus to his first love as a photographer.

Ian was only five years old when he first touched a camera, it was a Nikomat 35mm SLR that his parents purchased while traveling in Japan. He says he has been in love ever since!

Even though he has done lots of film/video, the photography bug that bit him at such an early age has left a long, slow burning desire that cannot be extinguished.

Ian is always looking for new ways to create an escape for individuals along with beauty, passion and elegance with a hint of sass! Ian is an artist first and foremost, he is a firm believer that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we all reserve the right to behold it in awe while sharing it with the world.

When asked about his transition from film/video he says “I will always love film and video as they are great storytelling mediums. However, to be able to convey a message or tell a story in one frame will always take my breath away!” As far as being a creative individual he adds… “It’s really cool because I get to dream with my eyes open!” Ian is based in Atlanta, Georgia where he currently lives with his beautiful wife and their 3 wonderful children.

Atlanta Events: The Atlanta Nine Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Desegregation in Atlanta Public Schools | August 30 2011

August 27, 2011

On the morning of August 30, 1961, nine African American students headed for the first day of classes at four previously all-white Atlanta public high schools. Unlike scenes in other Southern cities, such as Birmingham (AL) and Little Rock (AK), that resisted desegregation, the day was seemingly uneventful.

Because no one asked “The Atlanta Nine” on their first day of school, “how was your day?”, the “Forward with Farmer” (Atlanta Public Schools, District 2) campaign has organized an opportunity for several of “The Atlanta Nine” to reunite and personally share their story with the Atlanta community.

Atlanta is invited to come and celebrate along at the commemorative event on August 30, 2011 in Atlanta Public Schools District 2. Please join as we celebrate our past and create a vision for a brighter future in Atlanta Public Schools.

Location
Morris Brown College Hickman Student Center, Cunningham Auditorium
715 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW
Atlanta, GA

Tuesday, August 30 · 5:30pm – 8:00pm

“FORWARD WITH FARMER” (APS, DISTRICT 2) IS KICKING OFF OUR CAMPAIGN TO HELP OUR PUBLIC EDUCATION (H.O.P.E.) IN ATLANTA, BY CELEBRATING THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF DESEGREGATION IN ATLANTA PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITH “THE ATLANTA NINE”.

Atlanta Events: Know That Man Forum | August 28 2011

August 27, 2011

The host of this event want to know if you can handle the truth?

Event Description: The thing that keeps us apart from each other is the TRUTH. Men will go in their MENTAL CHAMBERS & tell it like it is. We know when we LOOSE the SHACKLES of the GAME. We can enter, turnaround, fix, disengage, dissect, any situation that HOLDS us DOWN. Fear is the poison that has left us abandoned from each other. . . . . We understand to have anything worthwhile and a meaningful. . . .We have to UNDRESS the FEAR(lies, deceit) & DRESS our minds with ACCOUNTABILITY to each other. . . . . We bought into a system that has divide us the MAN away from his WOMAN. Some of us got away from the DRIVER seat. As MEN of purpose we have to go back and resurrect the dirt on our hands and clean up EXCUSES with TRUTH & ACTION. . . .Only then can any woman say, “That’s My King Who Is Now Centered”. . . . . Every man wants to feel wanted by his QUEEN. So we have to rid the “UN” and feel WANTED.

Topics. . . . . . . . .

Single Mother Man Principles:
Principles For Single Moms Raising Young Male to Men: By implementing 5 principles it will keep that young male guided. You have to be consistent and not renegotiate the 5 principles. . . .

Intersection Dating:
The Way We Date Women: The Right Way, The Run on the Track, & The House Way. . . . when you don’t call your BOOKS we win at the lack of your undivided attention. . . . Did, I say “SPADES” call your BOOKS before you touch the CARDS.

We See It In Your Eyes:
Praise You, Please You, Praise You Again, Then Break You. . . .Know when its coming to protect yourself from future hurt & misery. Listen as its broken down. . . If you think you know think again, “Thats Fool Mode” we are programmed to change the GAME at the slightest inclination based on your EMOTIONS. . . . .

Accountability:
Our examples are BIGGER than US(men) we are losing the fight of self-respect. We drop the BATON like a 400meter relay. Its up to “US” to go back and claim our generation of MALES to be strong MEN. We have to first have an understanding with the QUEEN. . . whatever that might be for each man. The ACCOUNTABILITY is in the STREETS calling for US(men)
to rise from the GUTTER to the TOP. . . Everything starts at home with us.

Sunset: Esther Gordy Edwards Obituary: The Obituary and Death Notice of Esther Gordy Edwards | Legacy.com

August 27, 2011

Esther Gordy Edwards (Michael Ochs Archives) Esther Gordy Edwards (Michael Ochs Archives)

DETROIT (AP) – Esther Gordy Edwards, who helped build Motown Records alongside her brother Berry Gordy Jr. and led efforts to turn its original Detroit headquarters into a museum, has died. She was 91.

Edwards died Wednesday surrounded by family and friends in Detroit, the Motown Historical Museum said in a statement.

Edwards was a Motown executive for nearly three decades, holding numerous leadership positions within the music company whose artists included Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and The Four Tops. Motown Records, which Berry Gordy started with a family loan in 1959, churned out scores of global hits from the building it dubbed “Hitsville, U.S.A.” in Detroit. The company moved to Los Angeles in 1972.
