Hair She Goes! Markina Brown joined CBS Atlanta News in October 2010 as the primary meteorologist for the 4,5,6, and 11 p.m. newscasts. Markina joined CBS Atlanta from KTLA in Los Angeles, where she was the primary evening meteorologist.
Markina has been an on-air meteorologist for more than 13 years and has worked in the St. Louis, Cleveland, and Chicago markets. She began her career as a meteorologist and reporter at WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan.

The Time is Now! Nov.8, 2011 Atlanta will be holding special elections for the Board of Education seat for District 2. What does this mean to you?
The Board of Education is responsible, essentially, for the progress and advancement of our children. Recently there has been much controversy surrounding malpractice on behalf of the Atlanta Public School Administration, most notably, the cheating scandal of 2011. On many occasions, citizens are not able to meet and discuss issues with their representatives.

Obama will announce the student loan measure in Denver later today as he wraps up a swing through western states that will be vital to his re-election campaign in 2012.
The loans initiative will be the third such move by Obama in as many days, following action to aid homeowners and boost hiring of military veterans. The White House wants to show he is an activist president battling a “do-nothing” Congress.
The loan changes do not require approval by Congress.

The Clippings — Police included SWAT teams in riot gear, dozens of officers on motorcycles and several on horseback. By about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday the park was mostly cleared of protesters.State Sen. Vincent Fort was among those arrested and had come to the park in support of the protesters in recent days. He said the police presence was “overkill.”"He’s using all these resources … This is the most peaceful place in Georgia,” Fort said, referring to Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. “At the urging of the business community, he’s moving people out. Shame on him.”Some protesters could be overhead saying they would return to the park at 6 a.m. Wednesday, when it would be legal for them to be there.

Chicago-based Megabus, a subsidiary of Coach USA, has been in operation since 2006 and has gained a following in the Northeast and Midwest.
Starting Nov. 16, it plans to begin daily departures from a curbside bus stop at the Civic Center MARTA station in downtown Atlanta to Birmingham, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Gainesville, Fla., Jacksonville, Knoxville, Memphis, Mobile, Montgomery, Nashville and Orlando.
The company, like other new-fangled express bus operations, offers free Wi-Fi, electrical plug-ins and some fares as low as $1. Fares issued closer to the departure date will go up to about $27 to $30 each way on routes from Atlanta, according to Megabus’ U.S. director Edward Hodgson.
Megabus said it will offer 10,000 free seats on the new routes, plus a 50 cent booking fee, for travel between Nov. 16 and Dec. 16, for bookings with the code ATL10K.

Discount bus service Megabus.com will roll into Atlanta for the first time on Tuesday.
The Chicago-based express bus company offers fares from $1 and is opening a hub in Atlanta as part of its expansion to the Southeast. It will offer service to 11 cities with the expansion.
