The Clippings: Pastor Marvin Winans carjacked and robbed in Detroit wxyz.com
May 16, 2012
Winans was at the Citgo Gas Station at Linwood and the Davison when he was robbed. The carjackers robbed him and took his deep purple Infiniti QX56 SUV.
The license plate number on the vehicle is 0DRT73. Detroit Police are searching for the suspects.
He was not hurt in the incident, but was roughed up.
Pastor Winans told Action News he felt something was wrong when he came out of the gas station’s convenience store.
He says four men followed him out and assaulted him while he was pumping gas. They robbed him, punched him and even ripped off his pants.
Pastor Winans says he’s ok, but is more saddened that it has come to this.
“This kind of nonsense just has to stop… it’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the streets. We just have to take a look at ourselves and say this has to stop,” said Pastor Winans.

The Cut with that Brother! NFL’s Tight End Vernon Davis Host Art Fashion and Design Fundraiser For Youth at MODA June 9, 2012
May 16, 2012
NFL star player Vernon Davis and Modern Class Design (MCD), the interior design company founded by Davis and business partner Antone Barnes, has partnered with the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) to host a fundraising event featuring art, fashion and design on Saturday, June 9, 2012. The event will take place at MODA at 1315 Peach Street NE in Atlanta. Tickets are $50 dollars for general admission and $75 dollars for VIP.
Proceeds from the event will help fund the attendance of inner city students at the art focused Camp MODA. Emerging designers from local Atlanta high schools and colleges such as Savannah College of Art and Design and the Portfolio School will be in attendance participating in MCD’s Interior Design Competition. Talented designers will be awarded cash prizes and/or internships with Vernon Davis’ Modern Class Design.
Vernon Davis believes inner-city students growing up in tough neighborhoods like his in Washington, D.C., will gain self-esteem through this program which encourages critical and creative thinking. “I was always interested in art as a kid, but never felt free to pursue it because in my neighborhood you either went in a direction of sports or you got into drug dealing, but definitely not art,” Davis explains. “But it shouldn’t be that way, which is why I’m encouraging kids to pursue art or whatever their dreams are.”

MODA regularly features exhibitions on architecture, industrial and product design, interiors and furniture, graphics, and fashion. Camp MODA provides students who have an interest in art with the ability to examine the impact of design on their daily lives.
Founded by Vernon Davis, two-time team captain and Pro-Bowler for the San Francisco 49ers, and his partner veteran music executive Antone Barnes, MODERN CLASS DESIGN (MCD) is a full-service interior design company.

May 16, 2012
Hair She Goes! — Tia Norfleet is the daughter of Bobby Norfleet, who made his NASCAR debut at the Portland International Raceway road course in the year 2000.
Professional racecar driver Tia Norfleet has visions of giving to a community that supports her. As the first, youngest and only African-American female driver on the NASCAR circuit, Tia Norfleet has set the stage to opening the doors of diversity in a highly controversial and predominately male oriented sport.Norfleet comes from a family with a history in racing. Her father Bobby Norfleet made his NASCAR debut at the Portland International Raceway road course on March 26, 2000, where he competed against NASCAR driver Bill Lester making that race historical. It was the only time in NASCAR history that two African-Americans drivers have competed at the same time. Tia Norfleet has given Black women everywhere new hope in following their dreams. The million dollar question that many people ask is, will the NASCAR community accept Tia for who she is, and that is according to Hayes, a true competitor. “Our goal is to raise funds needed for everyone to find out,” says Edward Williams, founder of the medium sized marketing company Team Tia. “To ensure the success of this effort to fundraise,” says Hayes, CEO of Tiapower.com, “we have inked a lucrative deal with Alvin Kline, the social media guru and wed success agency team to head this unique grassroots online crown funding campaign.” Follow the Buzz via www.tiapower.com

Tale of Two Medical Reports: Trayvon Martin Had Fatal Wounds Sufficient of Fighting Off Vigilante | Zimmerman Had Broken Noise | Read Between the Lines
May 16, 2012
The Spin: George Zimmerman had broken nose, black eyes, report says – latimes.com
An autopsy of Trayvon Martin, the black unarmed teenager who was fatally shot by a Florida neighborhood watch volunteer, shows that his body had injuries to the knuckles, while a medical report on the shooter, George Zimmerman, shows that he suffered a broken nose, two black eyes, and cuts on the back of his head, according to a Florida TV news channel and ABC News.
What these details, like many others leaked in recent days, will ultimately mean for Zimmerman’s high-profile second-degree murder case is unclear, though they could presumably be used by his defense team to bolster his argument that Martin attacked him and beat him up before he was forced to shoot the teenager in self-defense.

May 16, 2012
In between my sniffling sneezing achy head couldn’t rest at all because I was fighting a cold germ and refused to take meds too early for fear I’d be up posting in middle the night like this moment, I caught a glimpse of America’s Got Talent aka the new Howard Stern show — with fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel — and it was goooooood.
Dude replaced Piers Morgan, so no where to go but up. Just kidding. No I’m not. Morgan is now boring the hell out of us on CNN. But as I said before, America’s Got Talent was good — so far. Liked Howard Stern on AGT during family hour. However, might not be good to shock my system trying to listen to Stern on radio. Will stick with the PG Stern — and see how the talent flows this season.
Here’s what was trending after the show…
