Hair She Goes! Veteran Comedienne Hope Flood Launches Annual Females in Comedy Convention (FICC) April 26-29 2012 Los Angeles

The Buzz — Veteran Comedienne Hope Flood, who in her 23 years in comedy on the road, stage, television, film and as an on-air radio personality, realized it takes well over a decade of work before most comedians are even recognized. In her own journey to stardom Hope saw many of her female peers become discouraged and give up, while at the same time she watched several of her male counterparts careers skyrocket. Flood decided to create a solution to help more women in comedy succeed.   

The “FEMALES IN COMEDY ASSOCIATION (FICA)” was founded in 2011. FICA is a group especially designed to be a comprehensive resource for the particular needs of stand-up comediennes. The goal of the group is to network, learn, mentor and collaborate; in addition to bringing the public a new awareness to the economic and creative power of women. Most importantly FICA provides mentorship from the veterans to aspiring comediennes who want to learn how to break into the business and/or how to refine their craft. The group has been well received and has become a rapidly expanding, actively engaged global community of women networking.

The “1st ANNUAL FEMALES IN COMEDY CONVENTION (FICC)” is the first of its kind making it a historical and groundbreaking event, slated to attract attendees from around the globe.

During the last week in April, we will host workshops, seminars, panel discussions taught by world famous comedy professionals that will educate, enlighten and encourage females in comedy. We will also feature nightly showcases at LA’s top comedy clubs.

Special events include, “A Meet & Greet Party” and the first ever “ LOCA – Legends of Comedy Awards” a luncheon honoring veteran female comediennes which will be open to the public.
