The Clippings: Mitt Romney Holds Education Roundtable at Philadelphia Charter School | C-SPAN

Washington, DC

Mitt Romney visited a West Philadelphia charter school on Thursday to illustrate how his education policies would improve schools. He participated in a roundtable discussion with teachers and principals at Universal Bluford Charter School, a majority African-American elementary school.

Romney announced his plans for education in a speech Wednesday to a group of Latino business owners.  The plan would reduce clas sizes, change education funding formulas, encourage more charter schools, and allow parents to choose where they children attend school.

The Obama campaign responded by pointing to Romney’s record as Governor in Massachusetts.  The campaign said Romney cut funding for several education initiatives including Head Start, laid off teachers and increased class sizes during this term as Governor.
