Chased out of nighttime news and probably too tired for morning TV, America’s favorite sassy personality, Katie Couric, is launching her own daytime talk show. Something in the afternoon, in the in-between, nice and simple. Or is it so simple? The show, called Kickin’ It With Katie just plain Katie, has announced its first slate of guests and it is an eclectic mix. A confusing mix, even.

Will real journalists return to news TV? Having to work outside the home for the past few decades and bringing you the buzz behind the buzz, I’m not sure what goes on in daytime TV. But hey, it made Oprah a billionaire. Ellen DeGeneres enjoys. Daytime TV also keeps us talking about Rosie” O’Donnell and Wendy Williams left radio for it. Plus we all love Whoopi and her cast of banterers. I guess that’s why Anderson Cooper and now Katie Couric are venturing into the realm of entertaining daytime audiences in the absence of Oprah (sang in my Oprah voice).
