Buzz it or Bash it? Hartsfield-Jackson New Temporary Ridshare Pickup Location | Follow the Buzz | LivingAtlantaStyle

Update: What a difference a day makes. Did Hartsfield make a liar out of us? Twenty-four hours later, roadblocks in rideshare. See update at end of original post.

Buzz it or Bash it? Can you say faster pickups? Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport new temporary #rideshares pickup area ran too smooth for our first pickup.

Both passengers and drivers excited to be out of north and south terminal traffic. Can you say more rides for drivers?

As a member of #teamlyft, to start, the driver holding area zoomed from 65 to ride request in less than twenty minutes. We arrived a little late for peak evening 9:30s, yet were rolling with passenger at 10PM.

We only drive airport evenings.

Passenger called to assure us they were in the zone. Our pickup went as smoothly as video provided by #HartsfieldJackson.

Having experienced Atlanta parking wards, we were as concerned as most drivers about subtle parking fee warnings and location of zones inside economy lot. But most of Atlanta parking wars come with warnings. Yet again, we were just glad to be out of north and south terminal traffic — oh so glad.

Can you say faster pickups? We zoomed right to our passenger, who followed instructions just as we did. Passenger said getting to the zone was hassle-free thanks to signage. Our #lyft amp was a welcomed sight as we approached. Pretty much the smoothest ride since rides began in January.

Normal airport driving for us are Thursday and Sunday evenings as we ride and blog. However we decided to try it before our busy time.

Drivers might want to connect with passengers before moving to zone to avoid any delays. Pro riders get it. However, we know there are those who push the button ignoring all app instructions as well as some first timers.

Can’t stress enough the excitement of getting out of terminal traffic. Economy lot location allows drivers to use less congested outer lanes and bypass terminal altogether. Faster pickups means more rides.

The new zone system makes it easy to spot passengers and drivers. In addition, it’s also easier to double back to pickup line passengers. Be sure to mind your minutes. Fifteen minute grace period given by airport goes well beyond pickup time limits.

We hope to see zone system grow around the city. So far #Suntrust and #AtlAirport got it right.

PS: Don’t everyone choose the same zone. Spread out.

PSS: please don’t ask driver to use other areas. Pickup outside zones comes with fines.
