Hair She Goes! Priceless Project, Driven to Recognize, Celebrate and Empower 1,000,000 Priceless Female Spirits (13 to 20 years old)

July 26, 2011

Ruby Taylor, M.S.W. founder of the Priceless Project™, is committed to ensuring that 1,000,000 young women and girls (13 to 20 years old) know they are PRICELESS. The Priceless Project™ offers Community Outreach and an inspirational online community at the PricelessProject.com.

The website, http://PricelessProject.com, launches July 29th, 2011 as an online resource to recognize, celebrate and empower the female priceless spirit. The Priceless Project strongly believes in Community Outreach. We will do monthly Community Outreach in Lancaster City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York City and beyond.

The PRICELESS Project originated in 2007 when master’s level social worker Ruby L. Taylor began to internalize the pain and hurt her nieces and students faced because of family, social and educational circumstances. To support and encourage her nieces and students, she wrote a poem entitled “What Are You Worth?” Ruby used the poem for hurting teenagers in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania to help encourage each student to know he or she is PRICELESS. She took a special interest in young ladies and girls in 2011 when Rowena Dixon, a fellow co-worker, expressed a need to help young ladies understand their self-worth.

Growing up in the Bronx, New York, Ruby knows firsthand what happens when a young women does not feel worthy. As a result, she was on the verge of failing out of high school and living a life she did not desire. One day, Crystal Russell, a neighborhood friend, invited her to a dinner at the Marriot Marquis with the Attorney General Janet Reno. Ruby says, “That night, sitting with high-achieving students from various NYC public high schools exposed me to possibilities. I realized I was worthy of being invited to an event for honor students, even though I was not an honor student. I was worthy of graduating high school. I was worthy of attending college and going after my goals. The one night of possibility changed my life view forever. It took the life of pain and hurt and turned it into a life of healing, hope and joy. I realized I was priceless, no matter what.”
