In a previous post, we asked is eight enough? A virtual question of where do we go from here? Today there are millions of blogs, news sites, etc. However, there seems to be fewer stories. At least fewer of the ones we want to buzz about. Stories full of potential, creativity, innovation, good news which remains our mission just as the first day we started.
What is life without growth and potential? What is life’s work without paying it forward, sharing of knowledge, filling a need. After attending George Fraser’s PowerNetworking, meeting wonderful people as well as mentors, we were inspired to take our work to the next level.
The experiences, potential, and some of the most amazing stories are out there. At the same time, there myths about how to marry offline and online to maintain personal relationships. Logging off to actually go to PowerNetworking was a hurdle for our team, but proved most successful. It was amazing as people commented to our team about putting a face with the work that we’ve done and the reputation we uphold.

Yalanda Lattimore Keeping Sisters Talking Since 1993
There are many keys to entrepreneurial success, but the most important one of all is family. Sure you can do it alone, go it alone, and suffer the pitfalls or enjoy the rewards alone. However success is nothing without family by your side.
Sadly when we meet entrepreneurs, we too often see them working side by side with friends and certainly too often with strangers. Somehow its easier to convince someone other than family about the long road ahead or the commitment and sacrifice one makes to become an entrepreneur. Only like minds can understand the long hours committed to building a dream. You have to explain working without the reward of monetary value until you reach that pivotal point where you realize what it was all about. How do you get family to understand that your time and money invested was all a stepping stone and all you know how to do is try and try again until you get there. is anybody trying to hear that?
Was told recently that gone are the days of families buckling down and working together to build a dream to creating generational wealth. We’re in the fad of immediate gratification. Gotta get paid for the weekend. Entrepreneurs don’t just live for the weekend. To entrepreneurs, the weekend means more work. Even though the entrepreneur may seemingly live in a world alone, they live with a dream of creating generational wealth. Well generational wealth starts with a generation not an individual. We often ask successful people to give back. We have to find a balance to cultivate our entrepreneurs as a family, then ask an entrepreneur to share the wealth when it comes.
There is a balance to being a family, being an entrepreneur, building a dream and creating generational wealth. It’s a hard lesson to learn but more to be earned when everyone has an understanding. Before striking out alone, try it with the love of family.
What Entrepreneurs Should Do:
- Don’t keep family in the dark
- Explain goals to those who are only willing to listen AND get involved
- Don’t sacrifice the household budget on risks. What you take out be ready to replace or earn what you need outside of your commitments at home. (we all learn this one the hard way)
- Put talents of the family to work within the dream.
- Don’t over promise reward.
- Be precise about commitment
- Be realistic about potential
- Don’t jump ship – communicate communicate communicate
What Family Can Do:
- Be supportive and encouraging
- Express fears but offer solutions
- Offer talents to assist and cultivate
- Commit to working together
- Ask entrepreneur to explain goals clearly
- Set aside time for family meetings to stay apprised
- Celebrate accomplishments
- Keep entrepreneur in the know of what’s needed for both family and goals
- Don’t jump ship – communicate communicate communicate
Together:
- Plan the outcome
- Plan the schedules
- Plan the goals
- Plan the budget
- Plan the present and the future
- Plan to succeed
