The Davis Bozeman Law Firm today announced their partnership with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and The W Atlanta Downtown to present the live stream of the Design & Dialogue Cocktail Reception on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 7 pm, with award winning architect, David Rockwell of The Rockwell Group.
“Our support of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum is in keeping with our ongoing commitment to the human rights struggle. Our firm has consistently provided pro bono services to activists and their families, who have sought to challenge and transform our society to ensure the human rights and dignity of all people,” says Robert Bozeman, Managing Partner of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm.
As a result of the sponsorship from the community-based firm, founded by Attorney Robert Bozeman and Attorney Mawuli Mel Davis, the public will have an opportunity to watch, tweet, and connect with David Rockwell about his career and works.
The intimate and interactive event will take place at The W Atlanta Downtown with National Center for Civil and Human Rights CEO Doug Shipman, as moderator.
The National Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum and Research Center is set to open in 2014. The Coca-Cola Company and The Arthur M. Blank Foundation are a few of the contributors who continue to show the business community’s support and investment in the success of the new tourism attraction.
When asked about the significance of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Attorney Davis believes that, “…each generation must continue the work of expanding and extending human rights so that all people live in dignity and respect…be inspired by NCCHR!”

MLKDayAlanta — In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Morehouse College’s “Month of King” the Archives Research Center is pleased to present a new exhibit of materials from the Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Collection. The display is located on the Library’s upper level outside of the Archives Research Center reading room. Materials highlight the Birmingham Movement and the March of Washington; both events will reach their 50th Anniversary this year. In conjunction with Morehouse College’s “Month of King” events, a workshop on using the King Collection will be held at Woodruff Library on Tuesday, January 29th.

Atlanta is invited to enjoy The King Center’s Youth EXPO and showcase, a youth-focused expo that has become an annual tradition in our community.
The EXPO is for youth, by youth, and about youth.
The EXPO provides a stage to feature middle school, high school and college students from Metro Atlanta that are serving as leaders and change agents in their respective schools, homes, communities and places of worship in the spirit of Dr. King’s philosophy which helps to promote the “Beloved Community” that he envisioned.
Students will showcase their creativity, innovation and initiatives. The EXPO is a platform for presentations and performances including song, dance, music, drama, poetry, the spoken word and mini performances. There will be activity stations and exhibits featuring youth-focused initiatives, achievements, organizations and entities. Students will also connect to organizations, resources and ideas related to service, civic engagement and career opportunities including volunteer and intern opportunities. We will recognize youth who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in six (6) categories:

Civic and Community Engagement
Entrepreneurship
Performing Arts

VideoBuzz: Buzz Eye View at 33rd Annual SCLC 2012 Drum Major for Justice Awards Dinner commemorating April 4th and Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Don Lemon, CNN News Anchor; and Reverend Al Sharpton, Political, Civil Rights, and Social Justice Activist and founder of National Action Network, accepted awards for Communications; LaTanya Richardson Jackson (actress and wife of actor Samuel L Jackson) accepted their awards for Arts. Mrs. Evelyn Lowery and MLK III closed out the evening with dedications to Dr. King. We captured the video handheld. Because of the many events of the day, we weren’t able to capture more, but more links to video will be coming by friends.
Buzz Behind the Buzz: April 4, 2012 marked the 44th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He wanted to be remembered as a “Drum Major for Justice.” Since 1980, Mrs. Evelyn Lowery and SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., Inc. have held the Annual Drum Major for Justice Awards Dinner to commemorate Dr. King’s life’s work, and pay tribute to our world’s present day “Drum Majors” – individuals who have made significant contributions to advance the causes and work championed by Dr. Martin Luther King. The awards honor those who carry on the spirit the “Drum Major” in the areas of service, justice and achievement in their respective fields.

WHAT: April 4th Revisited: Saving Lives Building Dreams! is the country’s first national Town Hall Meeting on preventing violence affecting youth using a public health approach and advancing the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leaders within government, politics, health, entertainment, education, community and youth organizations, and the media will join together to transform what has traditionally been a day of mourning for the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. into a day that builds momentum to prevent violence affecting youth in the first place.
April 4th Revisited: Saving Lives Building Dreams! starts off with a national telebriefing featuring members of congress and mayors discussing the pandemic of violence affecting youth and prevention strategies. The briefing is followed by in-person panels.
