Monday morning Tavis Smiley appeared on the Tom Joyner morning to announce an upcoming symposium to include Black leaders. For the past ten years during Black History month, Smiley would convene Black leaders in a forum called State of the Black Union (SOBU). He canceled that event for 2010. This new event, as you can tell will now convene on the hills of much controversy over comments made about “Black leaders” during the announcement.

Was going to tweet the above, but then I needed another 140 in anticipation of the tweetbacks and retweets. Everyday there is a hopeful headline of what’s going to replace twitter. Once upon a time we wrote that twitter was the end waiting to happen. It still is, but in the mean time twitter is also the beginning and like we said, its also everything in between.

What did twitter place? NOTHING. Well maybe a chat tool or two as it evolved. But before twitter there was no widget to update your status, you didn’t have status. There was no way to talk back to TV, or send an instant message to the President. Networks weren’t social, they had walls – firewalls to be exact. Facebook still feels like a prison yard (toured a federal penetiary once to get the buzz so I could say that legitimately) - tear down those walls if you want to replace twitter.

Never in 20 years staring at a blinding computer screen have I had such open conversations nor valued another’s opinions (as long as its 140) as much as with twitter. We’ve opened our minds to each other. And some want to replace it? Twitter is the beginning. Pick up where it drops off. Don’t replace it. Everything is the beginning. Everything is evolving. We are evolving. Twitter has proved faithful. There when we needed. We’ve survived the fail whale during the best of times and the worst of times. You can’t replace twemories.

Even when you think you’ve built the next latest greatest biggest livest most interactiveness - you’ll still have to tweet about it. Twitter is the beginning, the middle, and the end — and that’s the Buzz! – Follow this Tweet!

FAIL! By the time you read this post because you FAIL to to keep up in REAL TIME, 2009 will be DONE! Stick a fork in it. It seems everything FAILed in 2009. Was it the year NOT to remember. Unless you remember it by what FAILed.

Barack Obama now President FAILed to deliver as evidenced by this SNL clip. The year 2009 was a clunker year for the President. The President FAILed to see the many correlations to past one term presidents. Most say he dropped the ball and the voters at the White House door. At post time, the President reportedly has radio interview scheduled with Steve Harvey to discuss his relating with Black America – we predict FAIL! You might find archive audio here unless the station FAIL to post it.

Television FAIL! Fake marriages with multiple children i.e. Jon & Kate FAIL! Cable news networks FAIL! World class golfers with fake marriages FAIL! Fifty year old’s with 50 concerts FAIL! (FAIL again – is it too soon to do an MJ joke). Jay Leno FAIL to leave television. His five year departure moved him to an earlier slot. Oprah FAIL to retire. You now have to say goodbye over and over for the next two years.

Did nearly every idea FAIL in 2009? We planned to give out the FAIL Awards but FAIL to find inspiration in the domain we purchased www.theFAILawards.com – FAIL. For the most part, it looks like we took the year off. We FAILed to find stories interesting with enough depth to warrant further discussion. FAIL was coming too fast.

We intended to declare 2009 as the year of HATE Happy! FAIL! The post is still sitting in draft form. Since everyone had an opinion in REAL TIME, it became the year to HATE (highly anticipate the error) of everything and everyone trying to do Happy. Life moments and failures became hashtags with FAIL leading the way.

We won’t FAIL to bore you any longer as we have probably passed that point. Or did we FAIL to make a point. For all we FAILed to mentioned… FAIL! There is good news, hopefully it is all up hill from here. FAIL! That would denote we are at the bottom. FAIL!

Despite the FAILs of 2009, as one of the first, it was exciting to blog this past decade. Without FAIL, let us wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and many a joyous Holidays.

Go in peace, don’t HATE Happy!

The upcoming debate may be somewhat of a prediction, so we open it up for debate. Need a job, in lieu of salary, what will you work for? Food, room & board, or mortgage paid?

Rather than an opinion or commentary, this topic should perhaps be conducted as a forum to take place LIVE. So let’s do this. Join DryerBuzz **Thursday, December 10, 2009** in a live forum (click LIVE up above or use widget below) . The “Great Debates” will continue as we look at “work” in America. In lieu of salary, what will you work for? Can America provide jobs and compete on a global scale? Must America redefine work as well as how we educate for work?

The White House is inviting citizens, community leaders, and local officials to hold their own Community Jobs Forums. Pundits have made reference to historic presidential plans from Reagan to Lincoln. How long before we start comparing the economic success of slavery to reintroducing voluntary servitude? Is it only a matter of time before the conversation goes there? Already we are hearing arguments about America’s job market
competing with human trafficking
across the globe based on what America imports to get the low low price?

A great debate indeed. In lieu of salary, what will you work for?

Media relations expert David Margulies says publicists and pundits making the TV talk show rounds are giving golfer Tiger Woods the worst possible advice as he deals with his current crisis. Margulies, who handled international media relations for Oprah Winfrey during her trial in Amarillo, says Woods is doing a good job in a difficult situation.

“The first step in crisis management is to assess who can have the most negative impact on you as an individual or company,” said Margulies. “In Woods’ case, keeping his marriage together and personally contacting major sponsors is Job One. A divorce or the loss of a major sponsor are the two most critical issues for Woods right now both financially and emotionally. A protracted divorce could generate negative publicity for years and reveal financial details Woods doesn’t want to discuss.”

Blog veteran and editor of DryerBuzz.com What Women Want’s Y. Lattimore says Tiger Woods should stay away from interviews and certainly any press conferences. In conducting a press conference Tiger’s “transgressions” would become a page in history books rather than a footnote.

There are a multitude of examples to prove the hype of the situation will blow over. While we would like to think so, there is no “media” outlet for which to launch an explanation for infidelity or to seek forgiveness – unless the couple wants to invite even more spectatorship into the “transgressions.”

Frankly I’m appalled.

Brown’s demeanor and responses in an interview FAILS. Unfortunately our young people don’t know this because we fail to tell them much of anything. So they go around looking like boo boo the fool.

The performer has a few stops planned this week including the Wendy Williams Show. Wendy, all be it entertainment, has a motto for our young women, which she’s spouts near daily as, find a rich guy then get prenupted and preggo to paraphrase. Never mind her being a woman of a certain age, got to dumb it down when its all about pulling in that gold mining demographic. Brown is scheduled to appear on Williams Friday show, normally taped on Thuirsdays.

He also taped an episode of 106 & PARK on Tuesday, November 10 which will air on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 6 P.M. (check local listings). The singer was interviewed by 106 & PARK co-host Rocsi Diaz who’s name pops up in other drama. We digress.

From BET: On being questioned about his sincerity in previous interviews: “…I just feel like at the end of the day I’m human…I can only tell you how I personally feel…I can’t make everybody love me, but I can just try… and I can honestly say that I am sorry.”

Brown appears unprepared in his interviews, too young and seems almost unaware as to where he fits in the cycle of violence which he is now so much a part. How do we know the cycle is broken? His reactions and responses to mere mentions of Rihanna by his interviewers would probably cause concern from any domestic violence judge.

Everybody can’t be saints we understand. But we’re suppose to learn from our mistakes. Again this seems to be another case of a camp full of yes people who care not if the client is healed and safe. We keep hearing some say Brown like other media grabbing mistake making celebrities (Michael Vick), should be allowed to earn a living. Earning a living is one thing. Being the celebrity guest on a TV show is another. Failing at said guest appearances should be the end of the road. Don’t talk just sing and learn. It doesn’t have to be so public.

September 8, 2009 — It’s the nation’s “first day of school” where the remainder of American youth return to their learning institutions. On this first day of school, the President of the States (POTUS as the kids say) wants to welcome America’s youth back with an encouraging word. However, some folks, what looks like the half that did not vote for this President, seem to have a problem with this President beaming a message across the country. Are they telling their offsprings to disrespect the highest office in the land?

Mind you, not everyone who, even those who voted for the President Barack Obama wants to hear another speech. However, this administration has been transparent to some degree and used a great level of technology in getting elected. Though the President’s account doesn’t twitter anymore, the WhiteHouse has started an account (we think). Still perception is driven by the media. The media says folks are upset. So folks are upset now, even though they had no idea.

As far back as I can remember to a few Presidents before Reagan and the flip of the parities, the Office of the President has many times mobilized youth initiatives. In the mean time those who oppose this President try to articulate their views without really saying why they oppose this President. I’m not the greatest fan of this administration, but this President does represent what Americans consider to be an astounding achievement – becoming President of the United States. Judging by a few of the men before him, President Barack Obama might be one of the few that could point to education as a stepping stone to becoming POTUS.

In telling American youth to disrespect the highest office in the land, do we also tell them to disrespect the office of the principal? We’ve already had an administration in the past (republicans) that caused youth to disrespect their parents which did fill up American prisons. Can a democrat in leadership of the highest office in the land encouraging education do more harm?

Well, the administration did encourage Americans to buy cars while they were losing their homes. Schools are really particular about proof of residence these days. Nobody even asked if all schools were equipped to watch, see or hear this President. Some schools are watching in HD via satellite or direct feed. Some will get a video tape. Some schools will not open today. However, this administration stops at main street remember. Two streets over and you’re out of luck. But stay in school.
