Barack Obama Inauguration Stories Published on President’s Day
February 17, 2009
WEbook (www.webook.com), a Web-enabled community-sourced publishing company, announced today the publication of Jan 20 2009: True Stories, Real People, One Day, an on-the-ground account of Barack Obama’s inauguration as the 44th president of the United States. The essay collection is available beginning President’s Day, February 16, which also falls in the heart of perhaps the most historic Black History Month of our time.
Jan 20, 2009 is a commemorative collection of essays and accounts written by a mix of 58 citizen journalists and a number of bestselling authors. Contributors include American Book Award-winner and 2009 NAACP Image Award-winner Tananarive Due, Washington Wizards’ NBA player/poet Etan Thomas, Malinda Williams, a star of Showtime’s hit series Soul Food, a Ugandan journalist, a volunteer who spearheaded an important, grassroots Obama campaign office in the critical state of Florida, and a 15-year-old high school student and star debater from Maryland.
Jan 20, 2009 is a collection of writing as immediate as the moment it chronicles–it is history written by the real people who make it. Leveraging the speed and agility of the internet, the printed book is available less than a month after the inauguration, making it the first published book capturing this historic moment in American history.
“It’s just a wonderfully varied and poignant eyewitness chronicle of a watershed day in American history,” said WEbook President Sue Heilbronner. “We were astonished to see the breadth of the submissions; from high-school students to senior citizens, well-known people to everyday people, Americans to Africans, Europeans and Central Americans–a variety representative of not just the American experience but the global spirit.”
Jan 20, 2009 is available now for $9.99 at WEbook.com and Amazon.com.

Let Us Make Man- The Gathering to Reclaim Black Manhood 2009
As has become Let Us Make Man custom, this effort, March 20th and 21st, 2008 at historic Paine College, will not be a conference or a forum, but more of a coming together of our people for the express purpose of 1) changing the way we see and interact with one another, 2) changing the way we operate in the community and 3) changing the way we hold each other accountable. No one individual or organization can neither restore us nor return us to our former glory. Only by working together, can we positively impact the community.

Steele becomes first African-American RNC chairman
January 30, 2009
Stop the Madness
First the country hits rock bottom and elects President Barack Obama. Now the republican party headed to its grave, elects Michael Steele as Republican National Committee Chair. As one CSpan caller put it “is this another RNC gimmick?” He was referring to Alaska Governor Sara Palin’s run as VP.
CNN reports Michael Steele, a former Maryland lieutenant governor, was elected chairman of the Republican National Committee on Friday.
Sorry world, that hand basket is lit and on its way to hell. No stopping now.

What’s Up with that Brother: Jessie Spike
January 9, 2009

Candidates for Atlanta’s mayoral race begin to emerge. Already a sense of CHANGE in that previous races have gone to “that one” which seemed to be ordained by old guard leadership. Local politics have been under the radar overshadowed by a historic national presidential election, but here comes the rumble. Meet Jessie Spike who announced today that his campaign for Mayor of Atlanta has raised $235,000 to kick off the 2009 race.
A press release received Friday (1/9) tells us that he’s a native of Henry County. Also an attorney with McKenna, Long & Aldridge in Atlanta. He seems to have spent more than 30 years as a lawyer in Atlanta, the Middle East and Europe. A graduate of Dartmouth College, a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. His community service includes seven-and-one-half years as chairman of the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections and leadership service at Agnes Scott College, The Alliance Theatre, The Atlanta Area Council of the Boys Scouts of America and the Atlanta Organizing Committee for the 1996 Olympic Games.
At post time Spike’s website has no social networking links though he is well ranked in Google (why not with two popular keywords in his name, i.e. (jesse jackson/spike lee). Look at it this way, we didn’t find anything negative to make us turn away. So we’ll look a head to more positive change.
Jesse Spike says (according to his website)… The number one decision we face in our next election for mayor of Atlanta is choosing a leader who will get our financial house in order.

What’s Up with That Joe? Barack Obama and a Dreamer
November 26, 2008
Guest Post: Attorney Roy Miller
Guest blogging for www.JoeTheFuture.com
Unbelievable! Barack Obama becomes the United States of America’s first Black president. A mile marker in time is established. As I celebrate, also I wonder. Where are we speeding to arrive? This comes at a time of chaos and great uncertainty, yet in the perfection of God’s tracking of time, everything is under perfect control. Since the beginning, God’s time has never missed nor skipped a beat, despite what mankind has done and experienced; therefore, illustrating God’s perfection and God’s control. For every travel that is timed, there are mile markers and there is a destination.
Barack should know that the dreams of men are always dependant on the dreamer. Never place the potentials of men on a pedestal. The combined power of men is still less than the power of God. I feel that as long as Obama places God first every time he seeks to solve a problem, a God’s answer will always be there; whereas, pondering results is a distraction. Black Americans have waited so long for this point in time. We did not die out, we lived. When one survives a horrifying and exhausting experience, the result is wisdom. Wisdom always comes at a great cost. After a toiling experience, what is the wisdom of the Black slave that finally saw a different race on the master’s porch and in the master’s chair? Can the slave ever behave differently from a slave? Perhaps, God will watch until he sees what he needs to see. After experiencing life until judgment, in the end we come to the conclusion that only two things ever really mattered. Did we live a life worthy of heaven or did we live a life worthy of hell? Why is it taking mankind so long to treat our brothers and sisters in the same way we treat God? But then again, maybe we are. Barack, you are now a beacon to the lost, the confused and to the weary. May God always keep his hand on you.
In 1994, Attorney Roy Miller became the first and only person to succeed at having the n-word deleted from a major dictionary (Funk & Wagnall’s). Attorney Miller traveled by invitation and joined arguments for passage of the Baltimore and New York City resolutions discouraging n-word usage.
