One way to prove you are #teamArsenio for Celebrity Apprentice is to see if you can make it to the end of this video. Can you say long — whew. LOL. Near the end we find out Aresenio is playing for the Magic Johnson foundation. Kudos. We also hear a bit of who to watch for in that trickery stuff. Are you ready to play? Can’t wait. People who love drama and business love to watch. See you in the tweets.

Thought I’d remind everyone since the the show was on my mind.

Relentlessly tearing each other apart and proving just how contentious and petty they can be, these so-called front-runners exemplify what the GOP stands for at this very moment: obstruction & division. Last night during President Obama’s State of the Union address, we were reminded of just how much we can achieve with a unified government and with leaders who put the nation’s best interest before their own political agendas. At such a pivotal time when some would have us believe that there’s no such thing as income inequality, the president has called for tax reform, a ban on insider trading in Congress and more as he vowed to tackle perhaps the greatest challenge of our time: fairness. Delivering a reassuring voice to the men, women and children still suffering during these tough economic times, the president drove home the notion that it isn’t about jealousy; it’s about equality.

“We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by,” stated the president. “Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share and everyone plays by the same set of rules. What’s at stake are not Democratic values or Republican values, but American values.

BookBuzz — Touch 1 Media LLC releases new memoir by Melvin Childs, former executive producer for Tyler Perry, which details the incredible true story of the struggles, determination, friendship, and innovation that rocketed Tyler Perry to Hollywood domination and forever altered the course of Childs’s life.

Available in bookstores and via online retailers February 27, 2012, Never Would Have Made It. The Rise of Tyler Perry, the Most Powerful Entertainer in Black America (and What it Really Took to Get Him There) is promised to be a must-read not only for Perry fans but also for hopefuls seeking to break into the entertainment industry.

From early struggles and missteps to helping launch Tyler Perry, Childs offers a fresh and honest description of the journey he and Perry embarked upon as young men. It’s reported that Childs met Perry when the man the world would come to know and love as Madea was still an unknown writer searching for ways to make ends meet. Childs instantly recognized the unique talent Perry possessed and foresaw the success the playwright would have. The pair, along with another friend, soon joined forces in an effort to bring Perry’s work to the stage, with Childs providing the encouragement and taking risky chances to ensure that the business partnership had the financial backing needed to advertise and stage Perry’s work.

The result: Tyler Perry’s play, I Know I’ve Been Changed, sold out at Atlanta’s House of Blues in 1998. As executive producer, Childs then went on to establish the first successful national tour of the play, which helped revolutionize modern black theater with his marketing techniques. Perhaps most importantly, Childs warns of the risk one takes when the line between friendship and business is crossed. His own experiences have taught him that when a producer is forced to make an unpopular decision for business reasons, that decision can have disastrous and long-lasting repercussions on personal relationships.

“Tyler is the single most talented person I’ve ever met,” asserts Childs. “He worked hard to get where he is today, but he didn’t do it alone.”

Never Would Have Made It is both a critical look at the challenges in the business of entertainment and a how-to guide for newcomers. The book is already garnering praise from early readers on Amazon.com, who have called it “a revelation” for starving artists and “an excellent read” that offers the “true story of the rags to riches” behind the early days of the Tyler Perry empire.

The film is billed as a coming-of-age story of teenage boy who spends the summer in Brooklyn’s Red Hook projects with his preacher grandfather. Spike Lee called it the latest in his “chronicles” of his childhood neighborhood. Red Hook Summer features a return of the iconic character “Mookie”, originally played by Lee in 1989′s Do the Right Thing, but the film is “not a motherf**king sequel to Do the Right Thing,” as Lee said in an after-premiere discussion.

The Cut — Business leader Robert L.
Johnson will discuss ways corporations can enhance existing diversity and inclusion practices by urging CEOs and corporate boards to take a page from the NFL owners’ playbook and adopt a voluntary version of the Rooney Rule to level the playing field for minorities in corporate America. The NFL’s Rooney Rule gives fair interviews to minority candidates whenever a head-coaching or general manager position becomes available prior to making a hiring decision.

As the founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET), Johnson has always been committed to providing opportunities for minority Americans and is particularly concerned about the growing inequities among African Americans. Today, more than ever, he is dedicated to creating what he refers to as “business solutions to social problems,” i.e., the income disparity, wealth gap and limited access to capital.

Announces new online company to increase opportunities for minority job seekers, businesses

Johnson will also announce the launch of his new business, designed to enhance corporate America’s “best practices” in employment diversity and inclusion by aggregating minority job seekers and minority businesses on this uniquely designed web-based platform.

As I entered the debate, on the surface, seems Red Tails was made to appealed to me because it includes a cast of favorites and depicts history — black history. Would be a perfect movie release this time of year — between MLK Day and Black History month. So I thought.

In that the movie Red Tails was made with a black cast (I guess they could have made up some non-black characters), some feel the need to drag us into theaters beyond the means of simply marketing the movie. Black cast, black audience — controversy. There’s a black cast so naturally there’s a controversy with regards to funding and crossover. We’ve been here before. Anybody else has a headache before the movie even comes out? I’m sure George Lucas does?

There are many opinions floating including one from Roland S Martin.

You would think that someone considered one of the most powerful players in Hollywood — a man who has made billions with blockbusters such as the “Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars” franchises — would have been able to get “Red Tails” approved without any hesitation. Yet what many African Americans have always long known in Hollywood is that the color of your skin — or that of the story you want to tell — often falls victim to the racial boxes in Tinseltown. Follow the Buzz to Read More Seeing ‘Red’ Over Hollywood’s Treatment Of Blacks

Now comes Tyler Perry with all African American cast are on the verge of becoming extinct. THAT’S RIGHT, EXTINCT!

Unfortunately, movies starring an all African American cast are on the verge of becoming extinct. THAT’S RIGHT, EXTINCT! Ask any executive at a Hollywood Studio why, and most of them will tell you one of two things. The first thing they’ll say is that DVD sales have become very soft, so it’s hard for a movie with an all black cast to break-even. Secondly they’ll say, most movies are now dependent on foreign sales to be successful and most “black” movies don’t sell well in foreign markets. So what that means is you will begin to see less and less films that star an all black cast. Isn’t that sad in a 2012 America? Somewhere along the way we still haven’t realized that we are more alike then not. Follow the Buzz via The problem with all-star African American Casts…

To see or not to see Red Tails. If we see it and it grosses unimaginable millions, would that change Hollywood? We spend money on Hollywood each week and nothing has changed in 2012. Movie dollars are calculated by screens and they know where each screen is placed AND even if we cross communities to watch movies. Hollywood knows where and how it receives every dime. We invest. Hollywood just does not want to re-invest. It’s 2012. There is no debate.
